Exports below the stipulated USD 1,400 per tonne price will not be permitted, DGFT says
The government on Wednesday extended the minimum export price (MEP) of USD 1,400 per tonne on natural honey for another three months, till 31 March 2026, according to a notification issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
Exports of natural honey below the stipulated MEP will not be permitted.
“Minimum Export Price (MEP) on Natural Honey (exported under ITC HS Code 04090000) shall remain at US Dollar 1400 FOB per Metric Ton till 31st March 2026, with immediate effect,” the DGFT said.
The extension amends an earlier notification under which the MEP was valid till December 31, 2025. The export policy for natural honey continues to remain free, subject to the minimum price condition.
The MEP on natural honey was first introduced in March 2024.
India exports natural honey mainly to markets such as the United States, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The Centre has also been implementing the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) to promote scientific beekeeping and support the sector’s growth.
Major honey-producing states include Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab, Bihar and Rajasthan. In 2023-24, India exported natural honey worth USD 177.52 million.
