QSR giant opens 100+ new stores across India, setting sights on becoming the largest in the country
Subway, the global leader in freshly made, customisable sandwiches, has achieved a significant milestone by opening over 100 new stores across India in 2024. This marks a notable chapter in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain’s rapid growth and expansion strategy in one of its fastest-growing international markets.
With this development, Subway now boasts a network of 900+ stores in India, spanning more than 160 cities. The company has set an ambitious goal of becoming the largest QSR chain in the country within the next decade. Its strategy focuses on modernised store designs and a revamped menu to align with changing consumer preferences.
“Reaching this milestone of 100 new stores in a year is a testament to our customers’ trust in the Subway brand. This reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering fresh, high-quality, and made-to-order sandwiches to our discerning customers. We opened our 100th store in the bustling location of Lokhandwala, Mumbai,” said Tarun Bhasin, CEO of Culinary Brands.
To cater to diverse consumer needs, Subway introduced new product lines in 2024, including its Hot & Cheesy Signature Subs, featuring 1.5x filling and extra cheese, and a dedicated Breakfast Range served between 7–11 am, with options like egg, cheesy potato, and chicken sandwiches paired with freshly brewed coffee.
Subway’s continued focus on innovation and understanding consumer needs has been instrumental in its expansion. The brand remains committed to offering memorable dining experiences and exceptional customer service as it continues its growth journey.
Subway is one of the world’s largest QSR brands, serving fresh made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, salads, and bowls across over 100 countries and nearly 37,000 restaurants every day.
