Myntra Touches 60 Mn Weekly Users, Nykaa Slips

Myntra Revenue Soars But Losses Widen Despite Profitability Milestone

Fashion platform adds 8.4 million weekly active users, while Nykaa loses users for a second consecutive week, according to CLSA

Myntra recorded its highest-ever weekly active user (WAU) base in the week beginning 25 May, emerging as the strongest performer across India’s consumer internet sector as ecommerce platforms witnessed a renewed rise in user engagement, according to a report by brokerage CLSA.

The fashion-focused platform added 8.4 million weekly active users week-on-week, taking its total user base to nearly 60 million. The gain marked an all-time high for Myntra and stood out in an otherwise mixed week for digital platforms.

CLSA said that within beauty retail, Nykaa reported a second consecutive weekly decline in users, while Purplle and Tira Beauty remained broadly stable. The brokerage added that Nykaa continued to lag its peers on a quarter-to-date basis, whereas Myntra reached a record high in weekly active users.

Beauty Segment Weakens
Within beauty ecommerce, Nykaa lost 0.9 million weekly active users during the period, while Tira Beauty and Purplle remained largely unchanged. CLSA noted that Nykaa continued to underperform its peers on a quarter-to-date basis. The brokerage added that while Meesho continued to lead ecommerce platforms in downloads so far this quarter, Flipkart recorded stronger growth in active users.

According to CLSA, Flipkart and Amazon added 4.3 million and 2.6 million weekly active users, respectively, while Meesho’s user base remained flat. Myntra emerged as the standout performer, adding 8.4 million users week-on-week from a base of 51.5 million weekly active users.

The data points to sustained engagement across India’s largest online marketplaces, with Flipkart and Amazon continuing to expand their active user bases while Meesho’s user count remained stable.

Quick Commerce Slows
In contrast, the quick-commerce segment showed signs of moderation. Blinkit lost 2.6 million weekly active users, taking its total to around 52 million after a recent spike driven by a viral marketing campaign.

According to CLSA’s 4 June report, user engagement across other quick-commerce platforms remained broadly stable during the week. Food delivery platforms, meanwhile, posted gains. Domino’s Pizza added 1.7 million weekly active users, while Zomato gained 1.2 million users. Swiggy Instamart’s user base remained largely unchanged.

Analysts said the latest user trends indicated a shift in consumer engagement back towards ecommerce platforms following a prolonged period of strong growth in quick commerce. However, they cautioned that weekly active user metrics do not necessarily translate into higher order volumes or revenue.

Flipkart Extends Lead
Last month, ICICI Securities identified Flipkart as India’s largest ecommerce platform by gross merchandise value (GMV), with an estimated market share of 50-60 per cent. The brokerage noted that Flipkart added 8.5 million weekly active users during the period, taking its year-to-date increase to 26.8 million users, the highest growth among major ecommerce platforms.

According to ICICI Securities, the Walmart-owned company has an estimated 220-240 million monthly active users, compared with India’s internet population of roughly 850 million.

The brokerage added that Flipkart is increasingly focusing on expanding purchases across categories and driving higher spending among existing customers rather than relying heavily on new-user acquisition. The trend reflects a maturing ecommerce market and deeper consumer engagement among existing users.
