The report noted that during this period, quick commerce is expected to extend to all towns with a population of five lakh or more, while achieving deep penetration among India one households (households with an annual income of Rs six lakh or more.

Although there is a clear shift of consumers to quick commerce, the shift is not consistent across all categories. The report noted that food categories reported highest level of migration in the initial growth phase. In contrast, the shift in fresh produce (fruits and vegetables) is lower, indicating that consumers still prefer to handpick non-packaged items.

Impulse driven segments, such as snacking and confectionery, have seen a surge in demand, with items like munchies and chocolates being purchased more frequently for instant consumption. The report noted that quick commerce is reshaping grocery industry by fuelling incremental demand, influencing purchasing behaviour and unlocking new opportunities for businesses and employment.

The report added that as retailers adapt to this evolving landscape, balancing cost efficiencies with consumer demand will be crucial to success across all channels.
