Venu Nair, former MD of Shoppers Stop, has joined apparel marketplace Myntra as chief of strategic planning and omnichannel, effective Wednesday. He would be reporting to Myntra’s CEO, Nandita Sinha.
Nair resigned from his role as Shoppers Stop’s managing director and CEO on 3 August 2023, owing to personal circumstances. He has led the firm since November 2020 and was in charge of pushing it into new formats such as the value format Intune and SS Beauty.
Under his leadership, Shoppers Stop has also evolved into a multichannel retailer, with all product in every category sold in its stores being available in real time on the company’s website and mobile phone app.
Nair is a retail veteran with almost three decades of expertise, having previously led Westside and Marks & Spencer in India before taking on his current post at Shoppers Stop.
For nearly three years, Nair was the CEO of Westside at Trent, where he was in charge of the brand’s national expansion.
Prior to Trent, he spent 14 years with Marks & Spencer in a variety of jobs in India and the UK. From 2012 until 2017, he served as the Managing Director of Marks & Spencer Reliance While working at M&S in London, he used the chance to persuade the M&S plc board to expand into India, therefore bringing the M&S brand to India.
Nair earned a B.Tech (Hon) from NIT Calicut and an MBA from S.P. Jain Institute of Management in Mumbai.
